Gandharba Communities Gandharba communities are a group of numerous isolated communities located across the mountains of Nepal. They are a Dalit music caste, who historically delivered messages through song across rural and remote areas of Nepal. In each Gandharba village, men are found to be carving beautiful music instruments called Sarangi which they then sell in Kathmandu for income for their families. However, as a result of modern technology, they are losing this role within society. The Gandharba castes are now one of the lowest castes in Nepal and face daily hardship just to survive. The need for healthcare is so great within this community, but sadly, due to the isolation and financial pressures these communities face, it is not easily accessible. Hygiene levels are well below what we could begin to imagine within Western societies. Nepal has six seasons per year causing constant temperature changes and recurring respiratory infections. The men who travel to Kathmandu are constantly exposed to polluted air, causing further respiratory issues. All family members work tirelessly to provide for their families, which only places further stress on their bodies causing chronic pain. Despite the daily challenges and harsh conditions caused by climate, terrain and remoteness, Gandharba communities are full of life, love and beauty and constantly striving to keep their incredible culture alive.

And creating new Projects with current need with the help of international volunteer ; Day 14 , travelling to Pokhara Day 15 ,ENJOY POKHARA FROM THE STUNNING PHEWA LAKE We’ve admired the picturesque shores of Phewa Lake many a time on our Nepal travels, but never actually made it onto the lake until our third visit to Pokhara. Honestly, Phewa Tal and its surrounds wouldn’t look out of place in Zurich, Switzerland, such is its natural beauty, and experiencing it from the water is now, in our opinion, one of the best things to see in Pokhara. We approached one of the lakeside boat counters and organised a skipper, Ishor, who directed us to one of the iconic colourful paddle boats that line the shore. Orange life-jackets on (it’s compulsory!), we slowly made our way towards the lake’s centre, admiring the incredible views in the process; the snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna range on one side, densely forested slopes of Anadu Hill on the other. With incredible peaks as far as the eye can see, the views from Phewa Lake are out of this world. On the lake, the only noise we could hear was the paddle lightly dipping into the water, and bird call in the distance. It was utterly peaceful. We spent the next 30mins taking photos of the stunning surrounds, before slowly making our way back to shore, enjoying the last of the peace and quiet, before stepping to shore and continuing our day. You can book an affordable one hour, two hour or whole day guided paddle boat from one of the many lakeside stalls, or hire a boat and paddle the lake yourself for any agreed time. Day 16,17,18, SHORT HIKE (3 DAYS) | POON HILL GHOREPANI TREK If you’ve only got a short time in Nepal but want to both admire the famous Himalayan Range and experience Nepal mountain culture, This three-day trek is essentially a microcosm of what a longer Nepalese mountain trek is like. It passes through quaint villages, up many, many stairs, between jungles and over rivers, and before ultimately ending up at altitude (3,200m), with your head amongst the tallest mountains in the world. It really is the perfect way to ease yourself into trekking in Nepal. The views from Poon Hill are some of the best we’ve ever experienced - uninterrupted, panoramic views of some of the largest and most photogenic Himalayan mountains, including Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Machhapuchhare, Annapurna II and Lamjung. It also happens to be the spot where the two of us got engaged - so we can definitely vouch for how epic a place it is! Day 20 back to pohara free day to everyone indisiual plan 2 days ; Day 23 back to kathmandu 3 days in Kathmandu, Nepal Walk the streets & take in the Nepali culture.
