India from Kolkata to Mumbai - visiting locals in various cities

Hey all, I´m planning a 2 week trip throughout India from Kolkatta to Mumbai. I have friends in 3 of 4 cities (actually Indian friends from Berlin) who go back to India to see family and friends. I thought this would be a perfect chance to experience India as and with locals and travel a couple of places. I don't have an exact schedule, yet. But this is how it roughly looks: (all by train - I think  ;-) Starting mid-Jan in Kolkatta Heading over to Nagpur Next Jalna And ending the trip in Mumbai I have friends living in all cities except Mumbai, so always some locals to connect with. I would like to go with the flow and don't follow a too strict schedule to also give room visiting placed outside the core route (parks, temples, anything.. really).
